Web Paste worked with Mag and Tyre New Plymouth to build an eCommerce website. The plan was simple – build a self-maintaining website with low admin intervention required.

The first task to achieving this was building the functionality that allows the website’s products, stock levels and prices to be updated by a remote spreadsheet which is updated by their supplier. The second part of the task was to have two areas of the site where the user could search by vehicle type for either wheels or tyres. Using filters to send API requests to a third-party database we were able to show the relevant products to the user, meaning they don’t need to have the specific knowledge of what specifications fit their vehicle. The database this API bounces off is updated annually meaning all vehicles will stay relevant and the website administrator won’t have to constantly update products with specific attributes.

Tying this functionality together with some great user experience features such as being able to filter product variations and add to cart from product archive pages, resulted in a highly usable site that allows the client to continue with their day-to-day business while having this run cleanly in the background.
